Veronica Horton
Principal
About me
Hi. My name is Veronica Horton, and this year will be my twenty-first year in education. It is an honor to be the principal at Monteagle Elementary. As we move forward in a world that is becoming increasingly innovative, I strive to ensure an education that encompasses academics, social and emotional well-being while also ensuring our campus safety. This includes character development, career guidance, and extracurricular and fine art learning experiences.
I am originally a native of Alabama and moved to the beautiful state of Tennessee in 2018. My husband, Dan, and I have a large family of six adult children. We are also blessed with two beautiful granddaughters and a parson terrier named Ruby.
I earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 2006 at Athens University, a master's degree in Elementary Education in 2009, and an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership in 2017 from Lincoln Memorial University. With my family's support, I obtained one of my lifelong goals of a Doctorate degree in 2022 from Lincoln Memorial University.
I am committed to the students, parents, teachers, and communities in Marion County. I desire to improve the quality of education for all students while serving as an advocate for students and teachers. I look forward to contributing to Tennessee's whole child approach to the Monteagle Elementary community through my role as a leader in Marion County.
