Kristy West

I graduated from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (K-8).  I graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in instructional leadership from Tennessee Technological University. Collectively, I have taught 20 years. 

The majority of my teaching career was in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. Since leaving the classroom eight years ago, to pursue on other interests, I took various teacher short and long term absences. These placements took me to many grade levels and schools. It was through this opportunity that my passion for teaching was sparked once again, leading me to seek a classroom of my own.  

“You can take a teacher out of the classroom, but you cannot take the classroom from the teacher.” I have found this statement to be the best way to explain my reason for entering the classroom after an extended hiatus. There is nothing like the love of a child and his/her sweet face to make you want to share a classroom to open a world of possibilities through education. I look forward to teaching first grade at Monteagle Elementary!
