“I call my students “my kids” because in our year together they aren’t just kids on my class list, they are part of my heart!” Author Unknown
Hello! I am Mrs. Robin and I teach kindergarten at Monteagle Elementary School. I have been teaching for 28 years. I began teaching at MES in August of 2006 The same year my youngest daughter, Abi, started PreK. She is a 2020 graduate of South Pittsburg High School and is about to start college! Ali, my oldest daughter, was in 7th grade when I came to MES, and now is a Speech Pathologist and lives in Murfreesboro. My husband Shane and I reside in Tracy City where he loves to restore old cars, so if you drive by, you are very likely to see me working in the garage or the yard! I love to be outside doing things whether it’s mowing, clearing land, or burning a brush pile. I also have adopted woodworking as a new hobby! My first project was to build Ali a kitchen table for her new apartment.
My philosophy of education is that in order for kids to learn, they must first be cared for, loved, and safe. Kindergarteners especially need this. They are entering a sometimes hard reality of coming to school for the first time. For some, it can be a very scary time. I remember crying as a child and not wanting to go to school, and my oldest daughter cried when she started kindergarten. I want my kids to feel loved, respected, and important in my class. I want them to love school.
