Physical Education
Bio
I am extremely grateful to be the Physical Education teacher at Monteagle Elementary School.
I started my teaching career in Grundy County where I taught Physical Education at Swiss Memorial, North Elementary, and Palmer Elementary. During this time, I also was an assistant and head coach of the Grundy County High School girls basketball team. I taught for 6 years and then I transitioned into Administration at Swiss for 6 years. For the past 4 years, I have been the Physical Education teacher in Sequatchie County and also coached the girls basketball team.
With 16 years of teaching experience, I feel I learn something new every year. Education changes and so do I to meet the needs of our students. My goal as a teacher is I will work with my teammates to build the whole child approach in our students. I firmly believe that ALL students can excel academically and non academically. Being a Physical Education teacher, I get the privilege of having all of the students at MES. I will strive to work with all stakeholders to ensure every child gets every chance to be successful every single day. I will do this by tailoring my lessons to reach the auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learner. Lastly, as a mom of a handsome 10 year old boy--I will treat your child as if I would want someone treating my own. I am beyond excited to begin this journey and create long-standing relationships with all stakeholders.
I currently reside in Jasper, Tennessee, with my fiance Tim and our son T.J. Starkey.
